Michael Bossom from Wales started this process over 20 years ago and is quite popular in Europe. I have been working with this for over 6 years painting and teaching. Most fun I have ever had in art.
I teach mostly in the Northwest and live in Edmonds WA just north of Seattle. I am active in both Artist Connect and Gallery North, an artist owned co-op. Come winter and when the rains begin and the sun leaves, so do we. My wife and I will head south to find the sun and that has taken us to Texas, NM, AZ and CA. When we travel I pack up all the supplies and will give classes on the road. This has been a real treat for me as I love to teach wax painting and we get to meet so many people on these journeys. If you have an interest in such a class check out my web site to see if we will be in your neck of the woods on one of our travels and perhaps we can get a class set up that will work for you.
I have a blog at www.waxingitup.blogspot.com that I try to keep up with current projects. I do have 35 video clips on my web site that have quite a bit of information and I am working on editing them to put all together without the intros for each clip. I did those for expert village and they are also out on the You Tube site. Check out the one below.
I would like to encourage any artist that is needing a stretch or a loosening up process to try some wax painting. First it is a lot of fun and you will also find that you can bring it into the medium that you are now working with and find that it can be a wonderful addition to what you are doing. For those of you who are into photography here is a great mix. Doing image transfers with photos and mixing it with wax and other medium will surprise you with the results.
Please contact me with any questions you have and I will be glad to answer.
Hope to see and or hear from you soon. This video clip talks about the tools you need to work with in this method.
I will be doing a class in Albuquerque in February and here is the link for that class. http://tinyurl.com/ykdwh96
